Position Summary

The Senior Accountant for CFO Services will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality outsourced accounting solutions to our clients. This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional who can manage the complete accounting cycle for multiple clients while providing critical insights and ensuring timely financial reporting.

As a Senior Accountant, you will lead day-to-day accounting operations, serve as a key advisor to clients, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our CAS offerings.

Key Responsibilities

This role combines client service, technical accounting execution, advisory support, quality control, and team leadership. The responsibilities below are organized into core service areas and should be performed with a high standard of accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.

1. Client Engagement

  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients and audit team members to facilitate the smooth execution of engagements, address service expectations, and provide year-round technical consultation.
  • Client Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of client operations to anticipate and effectively address service needs.

2. Complete Accounting Cycle Management

  • Oversee the full accounting cycle for clients, including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure all client transactions are recorded accurately and reconciled in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date, organized financial records for all assigned clients.

3. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements, tailored to client needs.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to clients based on analysis of their financial data.
  • Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and tax planning.

4. Accounts Payable & Receivable Management

  • Manage the accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor communication.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate billing, invoicing, and collections.
  • Work closely with clients to address discrepancies and ensure smooth financial operations.

5. Payroll Processing

  • Process payroll for client employees, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Stay informed of changes in payroll laws and regulations to provide accurate and up-to-date payroll services.
  • Assist clients with payroll tax filings and compliance issues.

6. Client Advisory Services

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic advice on financial management, operational efficiency, and cost control.
  • Provide guidance on best practices in accounting and financial reporting, helping clients achieve their business goals.
  • Support clients with audit preparation and respond to audit inquiries as needed.

7. Quality Assurance

  • Documentation Review: Prepare, review, and evaluate working papers, reports, financial statements, and disclosures, ensuring they meet accuracy standards and comply with regulatory requirements before submission to the Audit Manager.
  • Consistency Checks: Conduct thorough checklist reviews to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness in audit documentation.

8. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor junior accountants, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless client services and support.
  • Ensure backup procedures are in place to maintain uninterrupted client service during team member absences.
  • Clearly define roles and responsibilities within the team, ensuring each member is qualified for assigned tasks.

9. Continuous Improvement

  • Regularly review and optimize accounting tools, workflows, and processes to enhance service delivery efficiency.
  • Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards, and technology advancements to continually improve CAS offerings.

10. Business Development Support

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to provide input for proposals, marketing presentations, and other business development activities.
  • Client Expansion: Leverage client interactions to identify additional service opportunities, contributing to the expansion of the firm’s service offerings and strengthening client relationships.

10.1 Inputs to JS Morlu Software Efforts and Software Implementation for Clients

In addition to core accounting responsibilities, this role supports JS Morlu’s software development and client implementation efforts. The Senior Accountant is expected to provide practical, service-based insights that improve product functionality and client adoption.

10.2 Software Development Feedback

  • Provide insights and feedback to the software development team on features, functionality, and user experience based on accounting service needs.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure the software aligns with industry standards and addresses client requirements effectively.

10.3 Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Participate in testing and quality assurance processes for new software tools and updates, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of accounting services.
  • Identify potential issues and areas for improvement in software applications, recommending enhancements that improve functionality and user experience.

10.4 Client Software Implementation

  • Assist clients in implementing and customizing JS Morlu’s software solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Provide training and support to clients on the effective use of software tools for audit and tax processes.

10.5 Troubleshooting and Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for clients experiencing challenges with software implementation or usage, offering solutions and guidance to resolve issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with the software support team to address client concerns and ensure software-related needs are met efficiently.

10.6 Continuous Improvement of Software Solutions

  • Engage with clients to gather feedback on software performance and functionality, sharing insights with the development team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in accounting software, recommending innovative solutions that enhance service delivery and client satisfaction.

  • Team Productivity: Increase team productivity by 10% through effective delegation and mentorship.
  • Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with IFRS, tax regulations, and other relevant standards during audit engagements and tax preparations.

  • Deliver accurate, timely, and comprehensive audit, tax, and audit-readiness services that exceed client expectations.

11. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Client Satisfaction: Achieve a client satisfaction score of 90% or higher, based on feedback and client retention rates.
  • Timeliness of Deliverables: Ensure that 95% of client deliverables are completed on or before agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Revenue Growth: Contribute to a 10% year-over-year increase in CAS revenue by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities.
  • Quality of Work: Maintain an error rate of less than 2% in financial reports and other client deliverables.
  • Team Productivity: Increase team productivity by 15% through effective workflow management and cross-training initiatives.
  • Business Development Contribution: Support the closure of at least 5 new client contracts or service expansions annually through collaboration with Sales and Marketing teams.

Qualifications

We are seeking a technically strong accounting professional with leadership capacity, client service excellence, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines across a portfolio of engagements.

13. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA/CA/ACCA certification, or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of IFRS.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on client accounting services or similar roles.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and tools such as FinovatePro, Sage 50, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Leadership experience with a proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
